A message from Steve Dukes

After losing my dad in a freak bicycle accident I have struggled to have a focus in the evenings to get me through the trauma.

I decided to set up a just giving page for the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance in memory of my dad and to keep his legacy alive.

I then decided to do an event every year. The previous 2 years I have done shirt auctions through Graham Budd Auctions and have to date raised £88k.

This year I am starting a memorial cup for my dad with our first fixture being at Bishops Stortford on 14th May.

I have been overwhelmed with ex players and friends in celebrity positions who are happy to support and play on this huge occasion.

If this is a success I hope to continue this every year and hopefully playing at bigger venues if the supporters want this.

I would also like to thank my partner and family and of course the club who have supported me through all of this and can’t thank them all enough.

Going forward I also want to start supporting smaller charities and the support of everybody is so important and appreciated.
